Today we derived the equation for how much power is in the wind. This comes from determining the amount of kinetic energy is in the wind and it travels in a cylinder away from a fan. The students calculated the power in the wind from a fan and then compared the power that their turbine created by measuring the voltage produced as the electricity moved through a resistor. We are getting lots of different efficiency values and will continue to learn about all the factors going into the equations.
