Last week Sahir asked me an excellent question about the types of photos taken by the telescope. You can read more about it here. The short answer is that the Hubble Telescope records a digital photo in black and white and then later codes the photos with color. The color can represent various things. This site has a great summary of the composition of Jupiter. The Hubble is AMAZING!
